Presentation guidelines

You will find below some guidelines regarding the different type of presentation for which you can submit an abstract. Please, be aware that these guidelines are susceptible to changes.

 

Oral presentation

The duration of the presentation will be 8-minute presentation with 2-minute discussion. You are asked to respect your allotted time. The chairpersons of the session will be given instructions to strictly adhere to the time schedule.

 

Authors of accepted abstract are expected to attend the whole session where he/she will present. They should be in the conference room at the beginning of their session and sit on the front row to avoid delays.

 

Audiovisual equipment

Each meeting is equipped with a master computer, which shall be used for all presentations.

Speakers will not be allowed to connect their own laptop to the video projector.

Presentations must be PCs compatible. (It is easier to tranfer Mac formatted files to PC formatted files than otherwise)

 

Auhtorized PC formatted support

Speakers should bring to the congress a backup copy of their presentation(s) on a PC formatted file support such as USB key, CD-Rom, DVD, External Hard disk.

 

Presentation format

Advised Powerpoint software : Windows 97, 98, 2000, 2001, XP-2002 and 2009, Windows 2007. PowerPoint software not advised : keynote.

Advised font : PC fonts such as Arial, Times, etc. Wingdings for special characters and other signs.

Advised picture format : .jpg, .gif, .tif or .bmp. Picture format not advised .pict

 

Tips to convert you files if you are a Mac User :

If you are using Keynote, you can save your presentation in PDF or PowerPoint by clicking on “Share”. You may lose your animation and certain font if you are not using True Type Font.

 

You can use QuickTime Pro to convert your video files (QuickTime) without any loss of quality.

 

In the preview room, you can meet computer experts that can help you converting your files. Please, proceed to the preview room at least half a day before to leave enough time for file conversion.

 

Preview room

You may send your PowerPoint presentation in advance to ifso2009@colloquium.fr.

 

Each meeting room is equipped with a master computer, which shall be used for all presentations. Speakers will not be allowed to connect their own laptop to the video projector. Presentations must be PCs compatible.

 

Speakers will be requested to proceed to the preview room at least half a day before their session (except on the first day of the congress) where they will be assisted by computer experts. 

Speakers will be able to upload or review and update their presentation(s).

 

Always make sure to bring a back-up of your presentation. 

 

 

Video presentation

Presenting authors of accepted videos are expected to attend the whole session where he/she will present. They should be in the conference room at the beginning of their session and sit on the front row to avoid delays.

 

The presentation duration will last for 10 minutes divided in 7-minute video presentation followed by 3-minute discussion. You are asked to respect your allotted time. The chairpersons of the session will be given instructions to strictly adhere to the time schedule.

Videos are allowed in the following PC compatible format .mpg, .mpeg, .avi or DIVX. Use computer resolution 800x600 or max 1024x768 and 16 or 24 bits.

Poster presentation 

Poster presentation is an important session at the XIV World Congress of IFSO.

 

The size of the poster must be 1.40m (high) by 0.90m (width) in portrait format.

 

Posters should display at the top : the title, authors and institutions of origin in large letters. The background, hypothesis, aims, material and methods, results and conclusions should follow, and should be designed so that the poster can easily be read at a maximum distance of 2 metres.

 

Authors have to bring their posters already printed. There are no printing services available on site.

 

The organizers are not responsible for loss or damage to those posters which are not removed by authors within the times of dismantling. Posters not removed by their authors at the stated time, will be automatically destroyed.

 

Presenting author of accepted posters are required to stand by their posters during the session where they will have the opportunity to discuss their work with moderators, assessors and attendees.

 

The two best posters will be awarded.
